Our Story

Champagne on Main began with two sisters, Lisa and Laura Kempner, and a shared love for champagne, celebrations, and all things sparkly.

Laura, an internationally award-winning portrait photographer, and Lisa, a business owner already living in Galena, each brought their own creative and entrepreneurial spirit to the vision. The idea for Champagne on Main first sparked during a birthday girls’ trip to Wine Country, where the dream of opening a champagne bar started to feel like something truly possible.

A few years later, when the building at 116 S. Main Street became available, they knew they had found the perfect place to bring that vision to life. With its historic charm, elegant details, and location in the heart of Galena, the space captured the atmosphere they had imagined from the beginning.

Formerly home to a beautiful home décor store and art gallery, the building was thoughtfully transformed into a champagne-focused bar designed for sipping, gathering, and celebrating. After extensive updates and construction, Champagne on Main officially opened in September 2020.

Today, Champagne on Main offers a carefully curated selection of champagnes, sparkling and still wines, bourbons, spirits, cocktails, and lite bites. What began as a dream between two sisters has grown into a unique destination on Historic Main Street — a place where guests can relax, celebrate, and enjoy a little sparkle in every visit.
